Unity Tutorial 03

Image
Unity Tutorial 03 From this week's tutorial I learned that the first part was really coded heavy so I tried my best to do the best, I could do. Right, so the first thing was to see how the triggers work, and how to detect them when a rigid body enters them. For some reason this part I kept having problems with so I delete it and started again. To then write our own function, using the private and public access levels and writing an if statement which tests to see if something is true. This then leads to a start function which I found really simple at first, and this is to see if you can initialize your timer to the time before you can reverse the enemy direction. This tutorial was a bit of a rollercoaster but I finally got the hang of it and cant wait for the next.

Reading 04 Analysis

Reading 04 https://www.lavonnesisk.me/analysis-without-the-pain/  I won't lie I was not looking forward to going through all my research matrix again and start taking notes on what to use and what was relevant, but after watching the video it is actually such an easy process wherein the video the man was explaining the three pass method where I would read the abstract first then I would start to skim over the rest of the article to see if it is relevant to my topic.  I learned that it's good to take notes or go back on the highlighted areas later on so I can keep track of what notes are useful to use.  Also always look at when it was made and look back on the references and footnotes.

Unity Tutorial 02

Tutorial 02 From Unity Tutorials  From going on what I did last week to know I'm really starting to like the way we don't need videos anymore and how easy and comfortable making a 2d game can be. From learning this week how to make prefabs again and learning how important they are, and from learning how to modify the scene as well it feels like a refresher from the lessons and things I learned last semester. Also learning how to change the drawing order for the game objects makes it so much easier now to use. I had a bit of a struggle at first trying to reopen my unity as It was updating and then it started to delete my old files and games, however, I saved my last lesson on my hard drive so it was saved and all was well.

Reading 03

Reading 03 https://macroessays.com/how-to-write-an-annotated-bibliography/  Week 3's reading assignments provide us with some research strategies that will come in helpful as we continue to dig further into our research and begin to put pen to paper to compile our findings into our topic chapter later in the semester. From watching the video and finding more about what annotated bibliography is I understand now what I have to do and the method I went for was to collect all my resources and put them into a table of contents in a way relating them back to my topic of choice.  My table of contents comes from various sites and books where they talk about how and why having a connection to a character is so important for not only the game to go well but the player too. The game I chose are games that I love and play dearly and know that in order to have fun and connect with the game you need to connect with the character first. Which brings you on a journey of unexpected twists and tur

Unity Tutorial 01

Unity Tutorial 01 After playing some thought I decided to go through with the 2d games as this was something I have always been interested in. These tutorials have been easier to use than the videos as I feel I can be more independent and solve my problems first then if I am stuck I go ahead to the next step and get some help from that.  As for the games I use to play which were the original platform games such as Super Mario and Sonic The Hedgehog. These games to me showed how something so simple can make a huge impact on a person's mind.  The unity tutorial itself took some getting used to as it felt the same as the last game we had to make but with new basic mechanics and more thought into it.  The setup was very easy and the instructions were very straightforward and to the point which helped a lot for time restriction. I am looking forward to exploring more into the world of 2d games and seeing how and what I can do from it.

Planning Reading 02

Planning  https://www.rte.ie/learn/2020/0610/1146677-retro-game-design-with-arcade-lesson-eleven/ This semester, we're creating our own book about gaming and media, and we'll be working on it over the course of the semester. The class was divided into groups depending on their areas of interest, with each group working on a certain topic. My group consists of David, Tudor, and Adam. We're exploring the topic of storytelling in video games, and each of us has brainstormed sub-topics to write about. The topic I will be talking about is emotional and behavioural development.  As I continue through my study, I'll use "The Matrix strategy" to keep track of my sources. This should make monitoring the sites I've visited a lot easier, and it will allow me to look back on themes more easily.  Since I'm researching cooperative play in video games and how it relates to tales. To begin, I'll look at several story games that I'm familiar with and explain w
