Project Task

Project Progress My Game My Prototype has a lot of trial and error where I was first going to start with a ball actually but then it made sense to go with the square. The game shouldn't be that hard to do and I played around with some code and went back on some tutorials that I remembered doing in the first semester, which was very helpful along with the helpful tutorials I learned this semester as well. The first goal was to have the player not float away and not go through the floor. Adding some rigid body helped a lot and making sure I had all my game objects labelled which I found out was a great habit to get into as I like to work with my area and space as clean and organised as possible. The second thing to try and get done was the camera movement and to make sure it stuck with the player and did not go anywhere, as I was having problems with it not going the way I wanted to go, at first it would keep going off without the player which I found very weird and couldn't und

Reading Task 09

Reading Task 09 https://unsplash.com/photos/bqzLehtF8XE  For this week's assignment, We had to peer correct ours and other people's Chapters in our books and critically read through them. I went through my friend's chapter and told him to add more facts to it as well as make sure to reference all his statements.

I had a really bad time trying to get my old dundoc account to work but it would not let me make a new document so I just used a word doc which has all the things a normal document would have. https://tudublin-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/r/personal/b00132561_mytudublin_ie/_layouts/15/doc.aspx?sourcedoc=%7B44cf238a-9559-4f46-a355-b53b7c0922c1%7D&action=edit

Unity Tutorial 07

Image
Unity Tutorial 07   From Unity Tutorials This tutorial taught me how to use and handle 2D sound, sounds that play at the same volume no matter where the character is in your scene. I have also learned that 3D sound is played at different volumes and in different speakers based on where the sound is compared to for my camera. This tutorial was fun to do as it was something new and different and could be useful for me for the video game that I am currently working on.

Reading Task 08 https://unsplash.com/photos/Oaqk7qqNh_c  This week we are writing our introduction and conclusion for our chapter in the books. As well as using the feedback I have received from my family and peer. From the feedback I got, I decided I should stick to the point and have not as much personal opinion on it. I have still gone with my three chosen topics and have decided to stick with them.  Introduction

Unity Tutorial 06

Unity Tutorial 06 From Unity Tutorials This week, I started working on Ruby's 2D adventure's final two tutorials, which included constructing UI components, Dialog Raycasting, as well as audio, compiling, and publishing the game.  I constantly forget tiny facts and information about Unity that we are supposed to know while adding components to the project or altering prefabs like I have done throughout this instructional series. So it took me a bit to get up and running and have everything functioning the way the instructions showed.  I feel like as the weeks are coming close to an end its getting easier to get these done.

Reading 07  https://unsplash.com/photos/npxXWgQ33ZQ  Unfortunately, I was not able to get any feedback from any of my peers as the past few weeks I was having major issues with my blog. I can only say I have gotten both my parents to read it through who are both college majors my dad being in computer engineer and technology and my mother being English and accounting. During these personal feedback sessions with my parents, they were very upfront and honest with me if a statement wasn't right or if a paragraph didn't make sense.  I was able to get one feedback from one of my close friends in the course and they did tell me to be more factual and back up my statement a bit more but had all the right information there.

Project Process

Project Process  Photo From Istock My game will be called Ciara's Chase it consists of Shapes and after asking numerous amount of people, shapes come easy to players and they have some satisfaction when the shapes are equal and make it to the end. So with this information, I decided to do a platform type of game with at least two levels where each time they get harder and harder to do. The game should start off with a square being the main player and dropping down straight away on some type of platform. The player has the ability to move right or left only and can jump by pressing the space bar.  The player will start off by trying to jump over some gaps and some death boxes along the way. The death boxes will have a clear indication on them from being the colour red. Once you hit the death boxes you start all the way back at the beginning. If the player succeeds by going through all the gaps and death boxes they will reach the end of the level where there will be a yellow box tha

Project Process From Unsplash I am very excited about starting my game as it's what I have been dying to start and do for weeks now. My initial idea was to go for a simple game that either does have some shapes involved or some animate characters. Following last semester I didn't really have the best game and was not very proud of it either but this semester I am very determined to have a good simple to the point 2D game. My goal is to have the game be able to be played by any age group and to have some fun with it I would like the ideas of a proper platform game as last semester I wanted to go and do that which was inspired by super Mario bros. The game would have maybe two or three levels depending on the level of how I can code by. The game should maybe have some death boxes or respawn points so if you fall off you go back to the beginning. The idea of having some simple jumping skills in it would be good as well and to have some of the arrow keys and maybe the wasd keys to

Unity Tutorial 05

Unity Tutorial 05 From Unity Tutorials This tutorial, it was really about how to import the Cinemachine package into unity and use it to handle the camera movement. This tutorial was very long and not going to lie annoying to go through just with the number of steps and things you need to get right. I think it's just time-consuming and sometimes do wish the video tutorials to come back now.  The same thing goes for the particle system very long and was getting up nearly every five mins just hoping it would do itself. I then added the enemy prefab and applied the code that was in the steps.

Reading 06

Reading 06 https://unsplash.com/photos/OQMZwNd3ThU This week's Tasks were to make us put all of our research into paragraphs and really start to think about our topics in depth. While gathering my information I was really worried that I wouldn't have any content to fill or have any relevant sources.  I then went into divided my topic into three subtopics and then went back to my main topic in the end. 1. Emotional Impact of Video game Characters 2. Behavioural Impact of Video game Characters 3. Comfort. characters in Video games These subtopics I have chosen are from three different articles that really explore and explain how video game characters are a way of escaping the real world and having some time to yourself.

Unity Tutorial 04

Unity Tutorial 04 From Unity Tutorials  This week's Unity tutorial was a big step up in difficulty from the prior ones. There were a lot of complex features I hadn't seen before, such as animations, which took a lot of concentration to grasp and implement.  Making animated 2D characters is even more difficult than I had anticipated, and I expect this to be a section of the training that I will return to regularly once I begin building my own 2D game.  This time around, I had a few difficulties with my script as well I discovered that it didn't always perform as expected and had a few mistakes leading up to the final sections of the second lesson chapter. I do feel like it will get easier but at the same time if you don't read the step right it can and will mess up your code.

Reading 05

Reading 05 https://unsplash.com/photos/3mt71MKGjQ0  This week, we were given the duty of examining all of our previously documented materials and then linking information points between each web article or magazine to construct a topic for each portion of our literature study. I'm not sure I've gathered enough materials yet, but that's what I'll do throughout the course of the week, and I'll start working on annotating more bibliographies and identifying additional keywords and sources. For me, this is a whole new approach to research, and I've grown to like the process of putting up a literary journal. It's difficult to get into the mentality of completing so much research reading, but the three-pass approach for screening articles has been quite helpful in identifying complete and relevant papers and journals to add to my matrix and compile data from. The video was really helpful and I will keep going back to the three pass method as I think this will go
